Dear Neighbors and Friends,
This is a beginning. It is not an official site. We're just a bunch of folks who would like to know our neighbors better and think the neighborhood needs an easy way to be informed of issues, good news, school events, whatever else you can think of that ought to be here.
The idea for a web site came about when there was difficulty getting information to a large community about an issue that affected the extended neighborhood. I've lived in other communities that had web sites, blog, directories, etc., and it seemed like a good idea to start one.
One goal is to create an e-mail list so that any news which needs to go out quickly can be sent. We will always use blind copies so that your e-mail address will not go to the whole list, although many communities have a directory includes both phone numbers and e-mails. This could be done if the area wants it. For those who do not have e-mail, we will attempt to find a neighbor who will share information with you, or if necessary individual calls can be made. We'd like to be efficient and comprehensive.
The web site is intended also to provide useful and current information about the neighborhood and the town. The more you contribute, the better it will be. This is just a start.
"Towne Acres area" is interpreted broadly - everyone who feels affected by development and issues in the Knob Creek area - Towne Acres, Greenfield Heights, Greenacres, Camelot, Biltmore Estates, Knob Creek, Charbray, Avondale, Villas as Browns Mill.
My husband and I chose Johnson City, and this neighborhood specifically, when Mike retired a few years ago, and we're delighted with the friendliness and convenience of the area. This is my contribution to helping it maintain the character that drew us here. But it's meant to be a neighborhood site, so your input, opinions, and comments are essential.
Best wishes, Mary Sheridan
